Steelers cut Cortez Allen after giving him 24 million deal in 2014

The team announced on Friday that Allen has been released.The move comes just two years after the Steelers signed Allen to an and $24.6 million to his rookie contract. Allen was given the extension because before the 2014 season he played a huge role in the Steelers defense during his first three years with the team.The 2011 fourth-round pick played in 44 out of 48 regular season games between 2011 Ron Jaworski Jersey  and 2013 and started in 11 of those.Allen was hit with the injury bug in 2014 though, and things started to go downhill after that.  The 27-year-old had an ugly 2014 season that was cut short when he injured his thumb. Before that, he had been benched.Things actually got uglier for Allen in 2015. The cornerback only played in one game -- the season opener -- before injuring his knee. "His production per snap was really, it was impre sive and that's why we signed him to the deal we did. Unfortunately for him and us, it just hasn't matched up."Thanks to his contract extension, Allen will walk away from Pittsburgh with about $13 million for the 12 games he played after signing it.Allen's release means that the Steelers will almost certainly be Cameron Johnston Jersey  looking for a corner early in the draft.
