Title: High Pressure Die Casting
High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) is an extremely efficient manufacturing method used to produce a wide variety of product forms. The process forces molten metal at high velocity and pressure into a closed steel mold cavity. The mold has fixed and moving halves, both of which are mounted on the platen of the die casting machine. Die casting machines have an injection end that uses hydraulic pressure and pressurized gas to move a piston forward, injecting molten metal into a closed steel mold. Die casting machines also have a clamping end, which utilizes hydraulic and mechanical toggles to absorb injection pressure and hold the mold closed while the part solidifies. The process is capable of turning molten metal into solid near-net-shape parts in seconds.
