X axis won't Home... moves but home switch not noticed

Nice piece of kit 5 axis
All the home switches are in series and Closed (short circuit for safety)
Homing will trip a/the switch to OPEN
Z is ok
Y is ok
Issue... X axis will move to the home switch but crashes past the switch. !!!
Using the <IO>, you can see any/all of the switches are active

The switches are being ignored when X Axis is trying to home...  crash

Interesting when <reset> then try <X Home> the carriage moves in the opposite direction !!!
