Terex has launched a new division, port solutios, that joins its recent Gottwald acquisition up with Noell and Fantuzzi, acquired in 2009, and PPM, acquired in 1995. The launch of the new division was announced at TOC 2012 expo. By combining Gottwald harbour mobile cranes, Noell and Fantuzzi gantry cranes and PPM reach stackers, it positions Terex as a supplier of a broad range of port equipment. The move fits in with chairman and CEO Ron DeFeo’s oft-stated aim to develop Terex as a market leader in key industry niches. The new Terex port solutions division is part of the material handling and port solutions segment that sits alongside Terex’s other segments: aerial work platforms, construction, cranes, and materials processing. Terex port solutions will unite Terex and Gottwald Port Technology as a single source for port business clients. The company said that from now on Gottwald Port Technology products will be branded as ‘Terex Gottwald’. It will sell brands Noell, Fantuzzi, PPM and Reggiane along with Gottwald products. Gottwald products include ship-to-shore and mobile harbor cranes, straddle and sprinter carriers, automated guided vehicles and stacking cranes, rubber tired and rail mounted gantry cranes, reach stackers, empty and full container handlers, as well as cargo lift trucks. Some of the products in the new division have environmentally compatible electrical solutions, the company said. Terex’s port equipment automation, software and services, are also included in the division. The group offers complete systems for loading and unloading, transport, handling and storage of containerized and bulk cargo. Klaus Peter Hoffmann, leader of Terex Port Solutions commented on the decision: “Both Terex and Gottwald are well recognized as significant suppliers to the port industry, and we can best serve customers as a unified organization that is committed to a single purpose and identity.” “By moving forward together, we believe Terex Port Solutions will offer more innovative products and services that aim to provide the highest return on investment, allowing our customers to be more profitable.” He continued, “Expanding our port equipment solutions allows Terex to develop deeper partnerships with our customers, so tasks can be completed more cost effectively.” Terex joins up port products
