A Swiss crane builder has been commissioned to manufacture and install three bridge cranes and three order assembly cranes for a steel wholesale company using sway-control technology. Each of the cranes, manufactured by Gersag Krantechnik, are fitted with electronic deswing Sway Control from SWF Krantechnik to prevent unnecessary swinging of the suspended loads to reduce stress on the cranes. SWF Krantechnik says its system monitors all movements, including lifting height and speed to regulate acceleration and brake ramps to avoid damaging load peaks. Two of SWF’s Nova electric wire rope hoists — with 3.2t capacities — are fitted to each of the three order assembly cranes, with each hoist equipped with frequency-controlled motors to enable smooth, step-less lifting. These 8m-span cranes will be used for automated high-bay racking for profiles, stainless steel and construction steel. The three bridge cranes, each with two 4t capacity hoists and 29m spans, are also use Nova electric wire rope hoists. Two of the cranes were designed as double girder versions with platforms while the remaining crane is a single girder EOT crane. All three systems are radio-controlled.
